By an overwhelming majority, the congregation of
LPC voted Sunday, October 23 to end its affiliation with the
Presbyterian Church USA. The official count was 304 to 8,
representing a 97.4 percent majority in favor of leaving.
When asked if they would remain part of LPC, 99
percent voted “yes,” and only 2 people indicated that they would
leave. Also, the congregation voted 305 to 3 to join the
transitional Presbytery of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church
while we are seeking the best long-term fit for our
congregation. For more information on the Evangelical
Presbyterian Church, please visit their website at

“I thank God that our congregation is so united
and that we will be able to leave the PC(USA) in peace and with
our property,” said Pastor Peter Larson. During the
congregational meeting Pastor Larson thanked Presbytery
officials for being so gracious in cooperating with our
congregation.
More than 60 people who were not able to attend
the meeting filled out “opinion” ballots. Although they were
not included in the official total, the opinion ballots were 60
to 2 in favor of leaving the PC(USA). |
